Aims
and Objectives
2. To
promote genuine hand made Arts and Crafts of a high standard (as per the
Guild's definition) in South Yorkshire and the surrounding
areas.
- To promote Members individual designs
and work, to encourage demonstrations wherever possible.
- To protect the identity and originality
of Members hand made Arts and Crafts and to enable the public to identify
genuine Arts and Crafts and to identify genuine Craft Events.
- To arrange venues for Arts and Crafts
Fairs at a reasonable cost to Members to allow them to exhibit and sell their
products.
- To seek group benefits for Members in
supplies and services.
- To provide to Members
information regarding Arts and Crafts in the area.
3. Constitution
- The
organisation shall be known as the "Northern Arts and Crafts
Guild" and shall hereafter be referred to in this document as "The
Guild".
- The Guild shall be a non-profit making
organisation. All funds shall be used for the promotion and running of Art and
Craft events.
- A committee elected annually at the
Annual General Meeting shall administer the Guild.
- Any committee member who fails to attend
three consecutive meetings without good reason will be deemed to have resigned
from the committee.
- Members
may exhibit and sell a maximum of three Crafts at any Guild event.
4.
Definition of Arts and Crafts

The Guild definition of Arts and Crafts is any item which has been hand made
by the member. It may be an item created exclusively from raw materials or
made from a number of items so constructed or arranged to reflect the design
skill and craft of the individual.

such item must have significant alterations to reflect the skill and craft
of the individual.
- Failure to adhere to items 4(a) and
4(b) will with adequate written warning result in the termination of
membership.
5.
Membership
- Application for membership of the Guild
shall be in writing on the form provided by the Guild stating the type of Art
or Craft to be displayed and sold.
- Any changes to the type of Art or Craft
displayed and/or sold will be made on a new application for membership form.
- Prospective Members will be able to
prove that all items displayed and sold are Hand made by the Member.
- All applications for membership to the
Guild will indicate acceptance of the Constitution and Rules.
- All Membership fees to be due on the
first day of January each year.
- The membership rate for the year shall
be determined at the Annual General Meeting.
- Members are expected to support at least
three Guild events during the current year.
- A member's spouse or partner will be an
associate member having no vote.
- All
members will have public and
product liability insurance.
- A category of Associate Membership for
Full Members who wish to take a break from fairs, but who wish to keep
informed of or help with Guild activities, subscription for the year shall
be determined at the Annual
General Meeting. (Set at £5 p.a. for 2005)
6. Booking of Stalls
- Full payment of the fee (as determined
by the committee) for the first fair booked will be required with the initial
bookings for the year.
- Payment for the second fair booked shall
be made in advance at the first fair attended.
- Should a Member fail to attend any event
which they have previously booked without giving two weeks notice or without a
genuine reason, and the space remains unused, the fee paid in advance will be used to pay
for the cost of the stall. A further fee will then be required to secure
booking of the next event, equal to the full cost of the stall booked.
- Booking
of stalls is based on a standard 2 metre table space, double space
will be made available at double cost if required.
7. General Rules
- Only Guild Members will be allowed to
exhibit and sell at Guild organized events.

Under normal circumstances only two stalls displaying similar crafts will be
allowed.
- Members are encouraged to bring their
own tables to events.
- Members must comply with all
requirements of the Guild's Health and Safety Policy, which will apply at all
Guild events.
- Demonstration of an art or craft is
encouraged and space for this will be allocated where possible.
- All exhibitors/stallholders will be
setup by the designated opening time for the event and will not dismantle
displays before the stated closing time.
- All rubbish will be cleared at the end
of the event.
- Cars will be parked as directed.
- In
any dispute the committee's decision will be final.
- A
loyalty bonus scheme will
be operated to the benefit of those members who actively take part in any
aspect of the Guild's administration and organisation of Guild events, the
scheme will be determined and operated by the Committee.
8.
Amendments to the Constitution and Rules
The
constitution and rules may be amended only at the Annual General meeting or
at an extra ordinary general meeting.
9.
Quorum
For
committee purposes a Quorum shall consist of 4 members of whom at least two
shall be either Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer, together
with
Committee
members.
10. Dissolution
The
Guild may be dissolved following an Extra Ordinary General Meeting of the
members and a vote taken which is unanimous. On dissolution the
assets of
the Guild are to be sold or auctioned and the funds together with any funds
already held divided equally between the members current at
that time after
all financial commitments have been met.
