Quality fruits and vegetables are used to ensure the very best results from the preserving process. These products are made in the 'old fashioned way'. Sugar is not just used as a sweetener but as a natural preservative, for when it is correctly used the sugar inhibits the development and growth of micro-organisms. The finest malt vinegars ensure that chutneys, pickles and relishes enjoy a long shelf life. Please note that these products can be stored in a cool, dark cupboard. However, for added protection the products can be stored in the refrigerator but the flavours may be slightly impaired. Jams, marmalades and curds are best enjoyed whilst 'young'. Many chutneys keep for years, even up to 20, and improve greatly with keeping. Serve chutneys with hot meals like curries, rice dishes and casseroles. Chutneys make a pleasant change to eat with roast meats. Try mixing small amounts of chutney into stuffings to spice them up and sharpen the flavour. a selection of chutneys greatly enhances a cold table - they are excellent with salads, cold meats, patés and cheeses.
