Ceramic powder paints mixed with an open medium are used for china painting. The item is painted for the first time and is ready to be fired in a kiln reaching a temperature of 760°C over a 6 hour period. After the item has cooled, usually overnight, it is ready for painting again, and possibly another twice, and fired again between each painting.
